iPad top 30 games (CNET)

CNET is a huge website. They are very trusted and they have amazing reviewers. Below is part of an article on the top 30 iPad games list on their website, along with the first game and a link to the rest of the article. Do you have an iPad? Let us know what your favorite game is!

Wondering what games to buy for your newiPad? Well, this early in the product’s life, it’s actually pretty hard to sort the really good stuff from the just-decent stuff, particularly with the prices for many games being so much higher than theiriPhone counterparts. But we took a shot at putting together a list of top titles that we feel meet the criteria for a good iPad game.

And just what does make a good iPad game? We debated it for a while and narrowed it down to these five factors:

  • It’s gotta be fun (obviously).
  • Ergonomics (are the gameplay and control scheme well-suited to the iPad?)
  • Uniqueness (though many iPad games play well as upconverted, higher-resolution versions of their iPhone predecessors, we respect new iPad-exclusive games).
  • Value (some of the best iPad games currently carry high price tags, but we also tried to include titles we thought were simply a good value).
  • Show-off quotient (extra points if the game flat-out looks good).

With that in mind, here are our current favorites, displayed in alphabetical order. Feel free to sound off with your own picks (or criticize our choices). With new games coming out almost daily, we will be updating this list frequently and taking your suggestions to heart. As more games are released, we may also expand the list to include more titles and, hopefully, discover some hidden gems.

Call of Cthulhu: The Wasted Land announced for IOS and Android

About the game:

‘Call of Cthulhu: The Wasted Land‘ is a turn-based strategy/role-playing video game based on the award winning Call of Cthulhu RPG. Set in the midst of World War One, the game pits a team of investigators and soldiers against an ancient enemy, older than humanity itself, who is using the carnage of the great war to build an undead army deep beneath the battlefields of Europe. The game is a single player 3D game that will initially come out on iPhone, iPod Touch & Android, with more platforms planned to follow.

Back story:

Call of Cthulhu was originally the title of a novella by cult American horror writer H.P. Lovecraft (1890–1937) which has, since it was published in 1928, captured the imagination of generation after generation of fans. The continued fascination with his work has meant a steady stream of popular culture inspired by his ideas; a recent episode of South Park where the octopoid Cthulhu himself ate teen pop idol Justin Bieber, being one high profile current example.
