Rumor: Nintendo to release “Wii Select” software line

Kotaku is reporting that Nintendo will be releasing a “Wii Select” software line soon enough featuring games like Wii Sports, Mario Super Sluggers, and Super Smash Bros. Brawl for about $19.99 each. I wouldn’t put it past Nintendo to do this in order to move more software and make some more money since the Wii is starting to fade into oblivion. Also rumored is that Mario Kart Wii will be bundled with the system, and Wii Sports will be sold as a standalone for the very first time.

Nintendo started a budget line of games in Japan back in 2009, but only for 3rd parties, with big games like Tales of Graces & Muramasa joining the lineup.

When Kotaku contacted Nintendo about this, they of course gave their standard “We don’t comment on rumors or speculation” which always ends up being the truth. You can see the Kotaku article here.
